At first, Linda collected the early calico (Little House on the Prairie) day dresses from the 1800's to wear herself. She bought from flea markets, auctions, antique shows, and a few yard sales. She always loved the fabrics, incredible workmanship, and fashion of all eras. To fund her passion, her husband built a tiny addition to their unheated and un-insulated 2 car garage which she then started a small home business. At first she rented Gunne Sax dresses for proms and historical costumes for centennial town celebrations etc., while she stored the real antique clothing away in the tiny room above her shop.
Many years later, Linda is finally getting back to the passion that started her business so long ago, hoping to display her collection in the near future in her own museum. It will be Maine ’s only Museum of Antique Fashion and Linda is now raising funds to do this. To accomplish her dream of opening the museum, she is offering 3 aspects of her business for sale;
1) The resale part of her store which includes 1,000's of articles, from 1980's to newest designer fashionable daywear, men’s and women’s jeans, slacks, shirts, sweaters, suits, dresses, shoes, boots, over 400 coats (furs, Harris tweeds, leather, etc), approximately 2,000 + hats, accessories galore, you name it!
2) An incredible and unique selection of costumes, including all the accessories, hats, shoes, jewelry, wigs etc. for historical, medieval, all eras and decades, costumes from different countries, western wear, all holiday and theme events, and you name it for Halloween + way too much to mention!
3) Complete Bridal includes 1,000's of gowns for brides, bridesmaids, mothers, flower girls, prom, cruise wear, and all accessories: veils, tiaras, shoes, hoops, petticoats, lingerie, a dizzying selection of vintage to new couture all for rent and most for sale! For the men there's everything from top hats and tails, frock coats and cutaways, zoot suits and fedoras, leisure and colored suits with ruffled shirts, shoes and accessories to match all decades, to new designer tuxedos, vests, all in house for sale or rent!
